Real help with the busywork. Free.
Send us a plain email about something you're drowning in — and get usable work back. No cost, no software to install, and nothing technical to learn. Write it the way you'd ask a colleague.
The work that piles up.
If it's repetitive reading, writing, sorting, or tidying, it's probably a good fit. A few of the things people send us:
Summarize a pile
Turn a stack of survey responses, emails, or notes into a short, readable summary.
Tidy a spreadsheet
Clean up messy lists — fix formatting, dedupe rows, fill in obvious gaps.
Sort & categorize
Group submissions, tag feedback by theme, or flag the ones that need a person.
Draft the first version
A starting draft for a newsletter, thank-you note, grant blurb, or FAQ — yours to edit.
Pull out the details
Extract names, dates, or amounts from documents into a tidy, consistent list.
Not sure? Just ask
If you're unsure whether something fits, send it anyway. We'll tell you honestly.
Four simple steps.
You email us
Describe what you need in plain words — to hello@givework.dev. No account, no form, no technical terms. Attach a file if it helps.
We break it into small jobs
We turn your request into a few right-sized pieces of work. You don't have to think about any of this — it happens on our side.
Volunteers do the work
Developers around the world lend the AI built into the subscription they already pay for. Their computers do the jobs — at no cost to you.
You get results to review
The finished work comes back to you in plain form. Look it over, use what's useful, and tell us if something needs another pass. You're always the final say.
Help you can trust, without the fine print.
No bill, no trial, no upsell. Nonprofits never pay — the work runs on volunteers' own subscriptions.
Nothing runs on autopilot from a raw email. A human reviews the plan before any work begins.
You see the results and decide what to use. Nothing is published or sent anywhere on your behalf.
Share only what's needed for the task. If something looks sensitive, we'll flag it before anything proceeds.
If you can send an email, you can use Givework. There's nothing to download or set up.
We work with nonprofits we know and partner with — so there's accountability on both sides of every request.
The honest answers.
Is it really free?
Yes. Nonprofits pay nothing, ever. The people doing the work are volunteers donating capacity that's already included in a subscription they pay for — so there's no cost to pass on to you.
Who actually does the work?
Volunteer developers lend the AI assistant built into their own plan. They set their own limits, and the work runs on their machines — never an anonymous black box.
What kinds of things can you help with?
Reading, writing, sorting, summarizing, and tidying are the sweet spot. If it needs judgment a person should make — legal sign-off, final decisions about people — that stays with you. When in doubt, ask.
Is my information safe?
Send only what a task needs. We treat your data carefully and flag anything that looks sensitive before it goes further. You're always free to redact details before you send.
How long does it take?
It depends on the size of the request and volunteer availability — often days, not weeks. We'll set expectations when we reply.
What if the result isn't quite right?
Tell us. A revision is normal and welcome. You're the final reviewer, and we'd rather get it right than call it done.
